Welcome!

Welcome to the Troop 51 website!  We use this site to communicate with our Scouts and their parents, as well as to show off some of the things we love doing, like camping and service projects.

We meet nearly every week at Cook`s Memorial Presbyterian Church, in Charlotte, NC.

Announcements
  • Pictures or a blog?    Tonight it's only a blog.  I'll try to update either the pictures or blog nightly.
  • The website problems have been corrected.  Our (free) webhost contacted me personally to apologize for the inconvenience.  They experienced a hardware failure that affected a few different sites.  Our pictures have been moved from the temporary site to their proper home.  Check them out in the Pictures area.  If you have pictures of your own to share, please contact Eric Belongia for the password.

  • Congratulation to Chris!   Chris successfully earned the Eagle Scout award in May!
  • Congratulation to Chad!   Chad successfully earned the Eagle Scout award in April!
  • Historical Merit Badges: BSA has released the details of the historical merit badges.  We'll try to provide counselors, but it is critical that anyone interested in these merit badges ask our Scoutmaster about it.  More information can be found at BSA's site.
  • Historian finalizes a photo album: The Troop Historian has created a photo album.  It is available for review in Rowan Hall.  You can also review the photo album online. (You must have the Flash player version 10 to view the photo album.  If you do not have it installed, you will be prompted to install it.)
  • Trip Deposits: Several future trip deposits are due.  Please bring your checkbook to pay deposits for the following:
    1. Camp Grimes: July 11 – 17, 2010. Open to all current (Pack 51) Webelo IIs and members of Troop 51.  Overall cost is around $250. More details to come.
    2. Trip Sign Ups: Sign up for the following trips on Tuesday:
Deep Sea Fishing, $120 per person
          OA Spring Fellowship
          Biking/Climbing/Shooting at Camp Grimes
  • Call for pictures!  If you have pictures from any of our recent trips, please share them with the troop.  Contact Eric Belongia for the password to upload the pictures to this site, or if you prefer, provide the pictures to Eric and he will upload them for you.
  • The latest troop calendar can be found in the Forms section (link at the top).
Updates In Process
While we are building this site, some links/content will not be "finished".  If you find a link that doesn't work (typically blue text with no underline), you can notify the webmaster, but chances are we simply haven't prepared the document yet.

Want to Help?
If you are interested in helping our Troop, please let us know.  We can always use the help and there are plenty of ways to participate.  Here are but a few examples:
  • Merit Badge Counselor (based on your interests)
  • Chaperon for outings/camping trips
  • Troop Committee
  • Assistant Scoutmaster
  • Advisor to Troop Leadership (ex. helping the Quartermaster)
  • Planning future trips/outings
  • Coordinating fund raisers
If you are interested in helping in any capacity, please come to a meeting and talk with our Scoutmaster, or to any member of the Troop Committee, or contact Eric Belongia.

Training
There are lots of opportunities for training and plenty of information available for self-guided learning.  We are going to try to provide some information on this site that we hope you find useful.  If you have suggestions for additional content, please let Eric Belongia know.

Photos
While we have some photos on this site, we invite you to send us links to more photos you may have stored online.  Please remember to avoid adding anyone's full name as a caption to the photos.  First names only!
  • Here are some pictures from a 2007 trip to the National Whitewater Center.
